The 2023 NFL playoffs are here and we’re breaking down the 3 NFC Wild Card matchups taking place this weekend. It’ll be an entertaining opening playoff weekend and we’re predicting the winners from each of these 3 games along with the final score.
San Francisco 49ers (#2) vs. Seattle Seahawks (#7)
Despite losing both Trey Lance & Jimmy Garoppolo for the season, that hasn’t slowed down this 49ers team one bit. Mr. Irrelevant, Brock Purdy has done a remarkable job holding down the fort and securing himself a job somewhere in the NFL next season. We think Purdy is going to pull off a Tom Brady and lead this squad all the way to the Super Bowl. Their first stop in the playoffs is playing at home against a Seattle who barely sneaked into the playoffs. The Seahawks have had a remarkable season of their own with Geno Smith making a good argument for comeback player of the year, but their road ends here as the 49ers defense which is the best in the NFL slows them down to a halt.
Final Score Prediction: San Francisco beating Seattle 27-13
Minnesota Vikings (#3) vs. New York Giants (#6)
The Vikings somehow finished the season 13-4 but with a negative 4 point differential on the year. They were blown out in all 4 of their losses but only had 2 wins that were by double digits. Who knows what Minnesota Vikings team will show up this Sunday? The one that erased the greatest comeback in NFL history or the one that loses by almost 40 or the one that can outlast Buffalo. The Vikings are a wild card and anything can happen in the playoffs. Thankfully for them, they face a team that they’ve already beaten once this season in the Giants which was one of their many single digit wins. The Giants are a bit of a surprise making the playoffs this year and Brian Daboll has put himself in coach of the year talks for being able to take this squad to the playoffs which is a big accomplishment in itself that should not go unnoticed. The Giants end their season happy despite losing to the Vikings because there is a lot of hope for their future with Daniel Jones, Saquon Barkley, and Brian Daboll.
Final Score Prediction: Minnesota beating New York 24-21
Tampa Bay Buccaneers (#4) vs. Dallas Cowboys (#5)
Tom Brady is undefeated against the Dallas Cowboys in his career and is looking to keep that streak going in this wild card showdown with Dallas in town. The Cowboys have done nothing but choke in the playoffs in recent years which just has all signs pointing to them losing this one and Brady keeping his streak alive. This might be one of the worst teams Brady has ever taken to the playoffs, but it’s not due to lack of talent but injury troubles and the team is just not recovered yet to make a real dent against this Cowboys defense. The Cowboys defense has two of the best players in the NFL in young Micah Parsons and Trevon Diggs which is going to put a cap on Brady’s streak and potentially his last ever playoff appearance.
