With week 4 quickly approaching, we’ll break down which quarterbacks you should have in your starting lineup and which would be better left on your bench. We intentionally exclude players such as Patrick Mahomes and Kyler Murray as they should be in your starting lineup every week.
Quarterbacks to Start in Week 4:
Tom Brady – Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Drew Brees is the current all time record holder for passing yards but that will soon be broken. After this weekend, Tom Brady will be the new record holder. Tom Brady is less than 100 yards away from taking the crown. To set the scene for the moment in NFL history, Brady and the Bucs are facing the Patriots – the 1st time that Brady is playing his former team since their split. Brady is out for revenge and is going to put up huge numbers on Sunday Night Football.
Justin Herbert – Los Angeles Chargers
Herbert looked like a veteran quarterback on the Chargers road victory against the Kansas City Chiefs. Herbert played very well in this shootout and is facing another AFC West rival in the Raiders on Monday Night Football. Herbert is quickly turning into a prime time quarterback and is ready for another monster performance to go for the AFC West crown.
Matthew Stafford – Los Angeles Rams
Matthew Stafford for the first time in his career is finally on a playoff caliber team. The Rams are legit and Stafford has the time to shine when he has more than one receiver to throw to and a defense that could help the offense out when needed. Stafford has been nothing short of stellar for the Rams so far and is going to be in another high scoring game as they face Kyler Murray’s Cardinals in a battle of the undefeated teams. Stafford is a must-start in this one.
Quarterbacks to Sit in Week 4:
Derek Carr – Las Vegas Raiders
Carr has been an elite option through 3 games as he’s led the NFL in passing yards by a wide margin. Carr has been a big factor in the Raiders 3-0 start and will have his work cut out for him against a surging Chargers team in Monday Night Football. Josh Jacobs is questionable to play which could open the door for Carr to have more opportunities, but we don’t see Carr having the top 5 performance he’s been having all season.
Ryan Tannehill – Tennessee Titans
Tannehill has a very favorable matchup against the Jets, but he is going to be without top 2 wide receivers AJ Brown & Julio Jones. We’re fading Tannehill and loving Derrick Henry for a massive game on the ground in this one.
Daniel Jones – New York Giants
Daniel Jones has improved his footwork this offseason and it’s shown so far. Jones has had some significant runs already and if he can continue to improve on that, he could continue to gain more fantasy value. In the meantime, with the Giants being the Giants, we just don’t see any significant value of any of their players in weekly matchups.
