Each week we’ll break down one player that should start in your fantasy lineup and one that would be better left on the bench per position. There are players like Travis Kelce & Josh Allen who are matchup proof and should be in your starting lineups every week barring a major circumstance. Through 12 weeks, we’ve been correct on 54 of our 96 predictions.
QB Start of the Week: Trevor Lawrence – Jacksonville Jaguars
Two of the worst defenses in the NFL square off against one another with Jacksonville Jaguars playing the Detroit Lions. This should be a shootout as both offenses can score and neither defense can stop anything. Goff and Lawrence both rise to the top of the streaming options for quarterback. We give the edge to Lawrence with the dynamic duo of Swift and Williams taking away the touchdowns from Goff.
QB Sit of the Week: Deshaun Watson – Cleveland Browns
Leaving our personal feelings aside on why he is allowed to play, we still see Watson as a sit for the week despite it being his 1st game back. The Browns face the Texans who have one of the worst run defenses in the NFL. The Browns also happen to have a man by the name of Nick Chubb who is a workhorse and is in line for a monster game. The Browns should win on the ground through Chubb and Hunt.
RB Start of the Week: David Montgomery – Chicago Bears
If Justin Fields misses another game, this will leave David Montgomery as the #1 rusher playing for a team that loves to run the ball. If Fields does play, he just lost his #1 option Darnell Mooney who went on IR. The Packers have been one of the worst teams over the last month defending the run and the Bears have been one of the best run teams. If Fields plays or doesn’t play, Montgomery has plenty of touches that will get him some serious yardage.
RB Sit of the Week: Miles Sanders – Philadelphia Eagles
The Tennessee Titans are looking to knock off the team with the best record in the NFL in the Philadelphia Eagles. Outside of Derrick Henry, their defense has helped them get to their 7-4 record on the year. They have one of the best run defenses in the NFL which spells trouble for Jalen Hurts and Miles Sanders. Hurts set a career high for rush yards last week but we think he’ll still have a fair game using his passing skills. However, Miles Sanders doesn’t have the same opportunity and he’s going to have less than half of that monster 160 yard performance he had last week. The Titans defense is not one to take lightly as they hurt Sanders owners.
WR Start of the Week: Christian Watson – Green Bay Packers
As mentioned in our weekly predictions article, if there’s one thing that Aaron Rodgers does well, it’s dominating the Bears. The lucky benefactor from this inevitable beatdown is rookie receiver Christian Watson. Watson has emerged as the #1 receiver in recent weeks and is continuing to get better. His career in Green Bay looks promising and we’re excited for what’s to come. Watson reaps the benefits from another Rodgers victory over Chicago.
WR Sit of the Week: Adam Thielen – Minnesota Vikings
The Minnesota Vikings surprisingly have a tough matchup this week against the New York Jets. The Jets defense has been one of the better units in the NFL, specifically on the secondary side with rookie Sauce Gardner. Fortunately for Minnesota they have a top 5 receiver in the NFL in Justin Jefferson. Jefferson will get plenty of coverage, but we think the main players who will benefit are TJ Hockenson and KJ Osborn. Thielen will also see his own fair share of coverage and he’s been very hit or miss as he’s getting older. After being hit in a couple recent weeks, it’s time for a miss against a tough Jets secondary.
TE Start of the Week: George Kittle – San Francisco 49ers
The 49ers face the Dolphins who currently have a weakened defense that is hoping to recover before the playoffs. We saw what the 49ers looked like with a weakened defense in their loss to the Atlanta Falcons. The 49ers defense is in a better spot now and so is their offense with Jimmy G having most of his weapons healthy. With the Dolphins having a depleted defense, the Niners have too many weapons for them to cover which will pave the way for Kittle to step into a big game after his up and down season.
TE Sit of the Week: Tyler Higbee – Los Angeles Rams
With Matthew Stafford being put on injured reserve and most likely being out for the year, Tyler Higbee and the remaining Rams who are somewhat healthy will now see a big drop in any fantasy value that they had left. Higbee is the best remaining LA Rams offensive player for fantasy and with the team giving up after their Super Bowl win last year, we don’t see Higbee being as productive as he once was.
