2024 Fantasy Football Week 6: Start or Sit Running Backs

Each week we’ll break down running backs that should start in your fantasy lineup and running backs that would be better left on your bench. There are just a few players like Saquon Barkley who are matchup proof and should be in your starting lineups every week barring a major circumstance.

Running Backs to Start in Week 6:

Tank Bigsby

If Etienne is not able to suit up on Sunday, Bigsby is a must start in all formats. If Etienne does play, Bigsby is worth a flex option in deeper leagues. Bigsby leads the team in rushing yards this season and has been slowly taking more carries away from Etienne.

Najee Harris

The Steelers quarterback situation is uncertain heading into week 6. Russell Wilson was a full participant at practice which would lead to more run opportunities for Harris as compared to when Fields is under center, he’ll take more of the carries away. Regardless of who plays, the Raiders just got torn apart by Bo Nix & the Broncos, it’s going to the best offensive performance of the season for the Steelers and we’re expecting Najee Harris to get his first touchdown on the season.

Chuba Hubbard

Chuba has put up 3 consecutive games of 15 fantasy points or more. All 3 games, he had more than 97 running yards on the ground and a touchdown. All 3 games were all also against teams ranked in the top 12 of most fantasy points allowed to running backs this season. They now face an Atlanta team that is top 10 toughest run defenses in the league and is also in first in the NFC South. The Falcons are going to give the Panthers offense a tougher time on the ground, but with Chuba’s receiving upside, we expect him to still play a vital role in this offense. He might not have another 15 point game, but he’ll be good enough to keep Carolina from getting Jonathan Brooks into the picture sooner.

Running Backs to Sit in Week 6:

Rhamondre Stevenson

Rhamondre had his 2nd best game of the season against a Dolphins defense that struggles against the run. The Patriots now face a top 10 run defense and with the quarterback change, we expect them to let Drake Maye air it out more.

Javonte Williams

It took until week 5 for Javonte Williams to have more than 10 fantasy points in a game. That game was against the Raiders with one of the worst defenses in the league. They get a tougher draw against Chargers, even with Broncos likely to win, it’s going to be through the work of Bo Nix over the running back room.

Jerome Ford

Every week, Deshaun Watson looks to care less & less and that hurts the overall offense. With less red zone opportunities available, Ford isn’t putting up the fantasy points with touchdowns. Unfortunately, he’s not good enough on his own to make up for it with yards and has been very hit or miss this season. Week 6 is going to be another one in the miss column.
