Each week, we break down all the games this weekend and who our predicted winner will be. Through 9 weeks, we are 86-49-1 in what has been a crazy season where top dogs have fallen and underdogs have emerged from the shadows.
Atlanta Falcons at Carolina Panthers
The Atlanta Falcons surprisingly are tied with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers atop the NFC South. If the Falcons win and the Bucs lose this week, they’ll be in sole command of the division lead. We think they’ll get the first part of that statement finished this week. They played the Panthers two weeks ago in what was an ugly matchup for both teams. The Panthers just got blown out of the water by Joe Mixon single handedly. The Falcons now have Cordarelle Patterson who brings more spark into the Falcons offense and should face a similar go around but to a lesser extent that they faced last week.
Winner: Atlanta Falcons
Seattle Seahawks vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers (Munich)
The NFL debut of games in Germany is here and it’s very surprising the two teams that are playing in this game. The Seahawks are 6-3 and the Buccaneers are 4-5 which you would’ve thought it would be the other way around. Tom Brady had one of his magical game winning drives against the Los Angeles Rams last week which is another one on his long list in his hall of fame career. The Germans attending the game might get the same treat as the Buccaneers appear to be turning things around after a sluggish start to the year. They have a tougher NFC West opponent whose offense has looked incredible this year. Geno Smith is a sure lock for comeback player of the year as he’s had a better season than the legend Tom Brady himself. We think Tom Brady still has a little bit of magic in him to help pull another thriller out.
Winner: Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Cleveland Browns at Miami Dolphins
With Tua finishing the game, the Dolphins remain undefeated. That isn’t going to change as they face a Browns team giving up 25 points per game. The Dolphins defense isn’t any better at the moment and is seriously hurt which will make this game a very sloppy showing for the defenses. Tyreek & Waddle will be on their way to another high volume game as they torch the Browns secondary.
Winner: Miami Dolphins
Minnesota Vikings at Buffalo Bills
In a potential Super Bowl matchup featuring teams with a combined 3 losses on the season. The Bills might be missing MVP candidate Josh Allen in this game but Case Keenum should have enough talent around him to still do a serviceable job. Keenum isn’t far behind where Cousins is at in terms of their talents. This game comes down to who has the better defense and that’s Buffalo.
Winner: Buffalo Bills
Detroit Lions at Chicago Bears
Both teams traded away key players before the deadline with Hockenson going to division rival Minnesota and the Bears parting ways with Smith and Quinn. The Bears did make a key acquisition in adding another weapon on offense with Chase Claypool. Despite not seeing much in his first appearance, we expect him to build up more targets as he grows with Justin Fields. The Bears finally let Justin Fields go loose this past weekend and he had his best game of the season. The Bears offense did face an injured Dolphins defense, but Fields looked impressive and the game came down to the final minutes. The Bears get a big win over a division rival.
Winner: Chicago Bears
Denver Broncos at Tennessee Titans
Without Ryan Tannehill last week, the Titans found a way to win. The main reasons they won even with Tannehill playing is same reason they won without, Derrick Henry. Henry is one of the best pure athletes in the NFL and the Broncos just traded away their best defensive player in Bradley Chubb to Miami. The Broncos fall to 3-6 as Russell Wilson looks like a huge mistake for management.
Winner: Tennessee Titans
Jacksonville Jaguars at Kansas City Chiefs
The Jaguars might be the best 3-6 team in the NFL. They’ve looked solid for the first 3 quarters in every game this season until their 4th quarter collapses. They aren’t going to have to worry about a 4th quarter collapse in this game because we expect them to fall behind early and never catch up. The Chiefs will take this one with ease.
Winner: Kansas City Chiefs
Houston Texans at New York Giants
The Houston Texans have the worst run defense by a mile with 180 yards per game given up. They now face Saquon Barkley who is 3rd in yardage in the NFL with over 770 yards on the ground. Barkley might have a game similar to what Joe Mixon just put up against the Panthers. Barkley should single handedly take down the Texans.
Winner: New York Giants
New Orleans Saints at Pittsburgh Steelers
Kenny Pickett is still seeking his first win as a starter as the Steelers have been knocked down week after week. The Saints have struggled on their own end too and looked awful against Baltimore on Monday night. The Saints are coming off a short week and have to travel against a Pittsburgh team who is coming off a bye and some much needed rest. Steelers defense should be getting back to a respectable place soon and TJ Watt is hopeful to play. With or without him, Mike Tomlin has been accustomed to beating Andy Dalton in Pittsburgh and just because Dalton is in a different uniform doesn’t mean this will go any better. Steelers defense helps Kenny Pickett get that first win as a starter.
Winner: Pittsburgh Steelers
Indianapolis Colts at Las Vegas Raiders
Jeff Saturday is back in Indy and no he’s not playing. The Colts hired Jeff Saturday as the interim head coach for the rest of the season after firing Frank Reich. The Colts started the season with Reich and Matt Ryan in what was a hopeful year to win the division title but that went south quick. Ehlinger has started the last 2 weeks and has looked awful along with the rest of the Colts offense. Jonathan Taylor is still hurt, Nyheim Hines is gone so they have no passing game and no running game. The Raiders win the lottery with the Colts organization in shambles as they get a much needed confidence win after their horrendous start.
Winner: Las Vegas Raiders
Dallas Cowboys at Green Bay Packers
They say defenses win championships and the Cowboys defense certainly has what it takes to do so. Micah Parsons & Trevon Diggs have been phenomenal in their short careers and are the clear building blocks for the Cowboys future. The Cowboys look like a legitimate Super Bowl contender right now and in what we anticipated to be a great matchup and potential NFC Championship at beginning of season is now going to be a blowout. The Packers offense is losing receiver after receiver as Rodgers looks worse and worse with his latest game being 3 interceptions against the Lions. Dallas comes out on top with their defensive efforts carrying the weight.
Winner: Dallas Cowboys
Arizona Cardinals at Los Angeles Rams
These two NFC West teams have struggled tremendously this season. The Cardinals on both sides of the ball and the Rams on offense. Rams retained 1 starter from offensive line last year who’s healthy and playing. The Rams gave up on the run game with Akers having been a healthy scratch on multiple occasions. The Cardinals defense is going to face the only one on the Rams offense who can do things in Cooper Kupp. But if Matt Stafford doesn’t play as he is in concussion protocol, the Rams won’t throw deep which gives Cardinals a big opportunity to take this. If Stafford plays it will be on limited practice and we know they’ll be playing more conservative which is why we’re favoring the Cardinals on the road.
Winner: Arizona Cardinals
Los Angeles Chargers at San Francisco 49ers
The Bosa showdown is here! Both Joey Bosa & Nick Bosa should be healthy and playing in this game Sunday night. They won’t be on the field at the same time but we should see one of them playing at almost all times. They both are a staple on their defensive lines and the leaders on them. This game is going to be a battle of the defenses which will go to Nick Bosa & the 49ers who have a Super Bowl caliber defense when healthy.
Winner: San Francisco 49ers
Washington Commanders at Philadelphia Eagles
For another week we get to write that the Philadelphia Eagles are the lone undefeated team in the NFL and we’re sure we’ll be writing the same thing after this week. The Eagles already beat the Commanders once this season and it’ll be an easy sweep to do this year. Jalen Hurts is having a MVP caliber season and should have another impressive showing.
