Each week, we break down all the games this weekend and who our predicted winner will be. Through 8 weeks, we are 76-45-1 in what has been a crazy season where top dogs have fallen and underdogs have emerged from the shadows.
Philadelphia Eagles at Houston Texans
Another week is down and another week we’re predicting that the Eagles will remain undefeated. The Eagles are going to go to 8-0 with another blowout, this time against the unfortunate Houston Texans. The Texans have one of the worst defenses making this a field day for Jalen Hurts and company.
Winner: Philadelphia Eagles
Miami Dolphins at Chicago Bears
The Dolphins are on the road against a NFC North opponent for a second straight week after knocking down Detroit and now visiting Chicago. The Dolphins should have no problem taking care of business to a Bears team who just lost by 3 touchdowns to the Dallas Cowboys. The Dolphins move to 6-3 and on pace to return to the playoffs.
Winner: Miami Dolphins
Los Angeles Chargers at Atlanta Falcons
The Chargers & Falcons both surprisingly enter this matchup with the same amount of wins. The Falcons are actually leading the NFC South right now and the Chargers are holding the last spot in the AFC wild card. Both defenses aren’t the reason their team has their records and this should be another high scoring affair. Herbert is the better signal caller and leads his Chargers to victory.
Winner: Los Angeles Chargers
Carolina Panthers at Cincinnati Bengals
The Bengals looked lost without Ja’Marr Chase on Monday and got annihilated by the Browns. Nick Chubb & Amari Cooper led the charge for the Browns in that matchup as the Bengals defense still haven’t improved. The Bengals need to start winning some games otherwise their 2021 Super Bowl appearance will look like a fluke. We think they can topple Carolina who is in a weird spot as a franchise and have rocky waters ahead of them. Bengals get a much needed victory to go one game above .500 as they still are looking at the playoffs from the outside in.
Winner: Cincinnati Bengals
Green Bay Packers at Detroit Lions
The Packers are on a 4 game losing streak and the Lions are on a 5 game losing streak. Neither team has looked good this season with both having plenty of struggles. The Packers offense cannot get going and the Lions defense is allowing an astronomical amount of points. This is going to be an ugly game and the Lions offense who is dealing with injuries to Swift & St.Brown who are slowly recovering from them despite playing last week are now without TJ Hockenson who was traded away before the deadline. The Lions offense was very reliant on Hockenson as the 2nd pass catcher besides St. Brown and we did not like this move at all. This is going to significantly hurt their production, but the Packers are down many receivers due to injuries so aren’t faring much better. The Lions have historically been bad against Green Bay which is why we’re giving the edge to Green Bay in this dreadful divisional rivalry.
Winner: Green Bay Packers
Indianapolis Colts at New England Patriots
In their first game with Sam Ehlinger as the starter, the Colts lost to the Commanders at home. This is good news for a Patriots team who are amidst the playoff hunt and a win would push them over .500. The Patriots defense has held high scoring offenses to a decimal including the Lions and we don’t think they’ll have a problem holding off the Colts.
Winner: New England Patriots
Buffalo Bills at New York Jets
This AFC East showdown features two teams with winning records. One we are not surprised with and have as our Super Bowl favorites, the other shockingly have gotten to a 5-3 start. The Super Bowl favorite Bills are going to easily take care of the Jets who fall to 5-4.
Winner: Buffalo Bills
Minnesota Vikings at Washington Commanders
The team with the 2nd best record in the NFL who just added another dynamic weapon to their already high scoring offense vs. a team with a backup quarterback and an inconsistent running back committee. We’ll take the first option any day as Vikings strengthen their NFC North lead.
Winner: Minnesota Vikings
Las Vegas Raiders at Jacksonville Jaguars
Two very disappointing teams who are performing well below expectations. The Raiders week after week are killing us with how poor they are playing on both sides of the field. The Jaguars are doing the same but with their 4th quarter performance as they cannot seem to hold a lead. We don’t know what to expect for both teams who have been frustrating to watch and predict games for. After being shutout against the Saints, it’s hard to choose the Raiders winning for a bit, Jacksonville finally can hold onto a lead.
Winner: Jacksonville Jaguars
Seattle Seahawks at Arizona Cardinals
Nobody thought entering the season that through 8 weeks the Seattle Seahawks would be 5-3 and atop the NFC West, nobody. The Seahawks are rolling with Geno Smith at quarterback and shocking everyone. Kenneth Walker is an early contender for rookie of the year and Smith for most improved. The Cardinals are going in the opposite direction, but Hopkins’ return last week sparked some new life back into their locker room. It’s difficult for us to say this but we actually are going to go with the Seahawks beating the Cardinals on the road as Kliff Kingsbury’s seat gets even warmer.
Winner: Seattle Seahawks
Los Angeles Rams at Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Similar to the Jaguars & Raiders, two elite teams from the last several seasons who are way underperforming are the Los Angeles Rams & Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The last 2 Super Bowl winners both have a losing record. Both quarterbacks coming off great seasons have taken a huge dip in performance. Neither quarterback looks completely focused out there and the situations surrounding them haven’t improved. The Bucs look like the worst of the two right now after facing embarrassing losses to Pittsburgh and Carolina in recent weeks which is the only reason we are picking the Rams to win a game right now.
Winner: Los Angeles Rams
Tennessee Titans at Kansas City Chiefs
Despite having the same record, these 2 teams are lightyears apart from a talent level and chances of winning a Super Bowl. The Chiefs are by far the more superior team. The Titans have the slight edge on defense and have the most athletic running back in the NFL in Derrick Henry, but the magic that Patrick Mahomes brings is on another level. Mahomes can single handedly lead the Chiefs to victory and has proven he can do that in matchups that matter. This is going to be another one of those instances.
Winner: Kansas City Chiefs
Baltimore Ravens at New Orleans Saints
Despite injuries to star tight end Mark Andrews who’s been limited the last 2 weeks, the Baltimore Ravens have still found ways to win. Andrews is questionable for this Monday Night matchup and even if he plays will be in a limited fashion. The Ravens regardless are going to need to rely on Lamar a lot more against a New Orleans team who just shut out the Las Vegas Raiders. New Orleans is dealing with their own injuries on the offensive side of the ball which is going to make this a defense heavy game with two of the better defenses in the league. The Ravens just added another key piece to their defense in Roquan Smith who should make things tougher for Alvin Kamara which will help secure the victory for the Ravens.
