The Super Bowl is only 2 weeks away but we still have 2 matchups that are set to be one for the ages as no team will have an easy path to the Super Bowl by any means. In the AFC, the Buffalo Bills are visiting the defending Super Bowl Champions with Kansas City. In the NFC, the Green Bay Packers are hosting the surging Tampa Bay Buccaneers. There are no clear favorites between either of these matchups and this is what makes this article predicting the matchups that much harder. In our last article predicting which 4 teams would make it to this stage, we correctly predicted all 4 teams. At this stage, it’s going to be a tough prediction, but our experts have broken out who will come out on top and how they are going to do it.
AFC Championship Game: Kansas City Chiefs Vs. Buffalo Bills
The Kansas City Chiefs are back in the AFC Championship game for a 3rd straight year. The Kansas City Chiefs are battling with injuries to two of their biggest offensive stars in Pro Bowl QB Patrick Mahomes and rising rookie Clyde Edwards-Helaire. Mahomes has cleared concussion protocol but is also dealing with a toe injury that has kept him limited in practice. With CEH also being limited, Le’Veon Bell has not been the power back he used to be but has done well in his more specialized role for the Chiefs. With right tackle Mitchell Schwartz set to be out, it will be interesting to see how many plays the Chiefs run to the right side as this is where Mahomes likes to scramble towards. Despite the injuries to Mahomes, CEH, and Schwartz, the Chiefs do have two huge offensive weapons in Tyreek Hill and Travis Kelce who can make huge plays even in double coverage. This gives Mahomes more wiggle room with his toe injury to not put as much pressure when scrambling. We don’t expect Mahomes to run the ball as much, but we will need to see big games from Kelce or Hill to make up for the loss of a ground threat.
The Buffalo Bills are the new leader in the AFC East winning their first division title in over 20 years. The Bills didn’t just win the division, they did it in a commanding fashion finishing with a 13-3 record. The Bills and Chiefs met earlier in the season in a nail-biter and are looking for vengeance in this week’s matchup. Josh Allen is proving to doubters why he should be considered amongst the best of the best quarterbacks in the league. Allen has arguably the best arm in the entire league and will look to showcase that arm with his elite pair in Stefon Diggs. Diggs led the league in receiving yards and has been nothing short of incredible since joining the Bills. Diggs and Cole Beasley have been performing even better than normal in recent weeks and have come up big on crucial plays. With the lack of a strong backfield, the Bills are also going to need to rely on plays in the air to compete in this game.
Prediction: Bills 34, Chiefs 31
The Bills have been waiting for this rematch for weeks and they are hungry. The Bills want to prove to the world they are legit. This game will be a shoot-out and is going to come down to the final minutes of the game with a comeback drive led by Josh Allen and his receiving threats. The Bills will pull off the upset putting a halt to the Chiefs dynasty.
NFC Championship game: Green Bay Packers vs. Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Aaron Rodgers has played some of his best football in his entire career with a league-leading 48 touchdowns and only 5 interceptions. Rodgers is a MVP front-runner for a reason and should be based on his impressive performance this season. Rodgers could not have thrown the amount of touchdowns he has this season without the league leader in reception touchdowns with Davante Adams. Adams and company have a favorable matchup against the Bucs secondary. With Rodgers and Adams, Green Bay was the #1 seed in the NFC for very good reasons.
Tampa Bay comes into this matchup as the #5 seed being a Wild Card in the playoffs. The Bucs have got to where they are by knocking down the Washington Football Team and division rival New Orleans Saints. Tampa Bay has a plethora of weapons at Brady’s disposal which has allowed him to still continue playing at a high level defying any worries regarding his age. Tampa Bay’s offense is loaded with Chris Godwin, Mike Evans, Antonio Brown, Gronkowski, Howard, Fournette and RoJo. Antonio Brown will not be playing and several other players have been limited in practices more than normal. This will definitely impact the output that Brady is going to be able to have.
Prediction: Green Bay 28, Tampa Bay 17
In the Rodgers-Brady showdown, both future HOF quarterbacks are going to be looking to add to their already great legacies. Rodgers needs a win more and is going to do whatever it takes to get the win to prove why he is amongst the greats as well. Injuries and the all-pro secondary consisting of Za’Darius Smith and Jaire Alexander are going to look to shut down Mike Evans and Chris Godwin. The Packers led by Rodgers are going to come out on top of this one as Rodgers looks for his next ring.
