Way Too Early 2025 NFL Power Rankings

It’s been a couple weeks since the Super Bowl and the NFL season officially came to a close. We’ll be looking at a way too early rankings for every team heading into the 2025 NFL season and what each team needs to focus their offseason on addressing.

#32: Cleveland Browns

Offseason focus: Rebuild the team

With the news that Myles Garrett wants out of Cleveland, the Browns lost the last good thing that they had going for them. The Browns are a train wreck and it all stems back to the Deshaun Watson deal. Giving up their entire future for a disgrace of a human being & now they are paying dividends for it. Awful move for an awful organization doomed for the foreseeable future.

#31: Tennessee Titans

Offseason focus: Get a quarterback

The Will Levis experiment did not last long and the Titans are seeking someone else to take over. The smart move for the Titans would be to find someone through the draft as they are not in a spot to win now with their roster, so building their offense from scratch would be the move. They should consider drafting Cam Ward or Shedeur Sanders if available.

#30: Las Vegas Raiders

Offseason focus:  Complete rebuild

Pete Carroll might be the new head coach in town and a great hire for the Raiders, but for Carroll the move did not make sense. The Raiders are a project and have a lot to fix on all portions of the roster except for having a stud EDGE rusher in Maxx Crosby. The Raiders need a complete rebuild on both sides of the ball.

#29: New Orleans Saints

Offseason focus: Rebuild

The Saints are another team that needs to undergo a significant rebuild. The Saints landed a rock star in Kellen Moore, but he should have stayed in Philadelphia. The Saints have a couple young stars in Chris Olave & Pete Werner, but they have an aging offense, and injury-riddled players that are holding them back.

#28: New York Giants

Offseason focus: Get a quarterback

The New York Giants have some serious talent on the offensive side of the ball with lineman Evan Neal, surprise running back Tyrone Tracy Jr, and an elite wide receiver in Malik Nabers. The problem is they don’t have a quarterback that can execute the game script. Daniel Jones was cut mid season last year and the team turned to Drew Lock & Tommy DeVito. The Giants would do best drafting Cam Ward or adding a veteran like Russell Wilson into the picture.

#27: Jacksonville Jaguars

Offseason focus: Think about a future without Trevor Lawrence

The Jaguars have gone on record that they aren’t going to trade Trevor Lawrence, but they need to at least consider the option. After a solid sophomore campaign, Trevor Lawrence has taken a step back the last 2 seasons with this past year, having a 2-8 record in the 10 games he played. He had a career low in yards per game and the offense was awful. Lawrence might not be the answer for Jacksonville, hopefully with new coach Liam Coen can spark some life into the dormant regime.

#26: New York Jets

Offseason focus: Get a quarterback

Aaron Rodgers only lasted 2 seasons with the New York Jets, with only playing for one, in what was a failed experiment from the start. The Jets have the talent on offense with Hall, Wilson, & Adams. They need someone who can come in ready from day 1 like Russell Wilson, a reunion with Sam Darnold, or bring Ryan Tannehill out of an undisclosed retirement.

#25: Carolina Panthers

Offseason focus: Build around Bryce Young

Adam Thielen has continued to be a rock for Bryce Young, but his playing days are nearing an end. The Panthers have a terrible offensive line, no run game, and nobody outside of Adam Thielen who can take over as the #1 option. The Panthers should focus on the line first & then draft a running back from this draft class loaded with day 2 talent.

#24: New England Patriots

Offseason focus: Get Drake Maye some help

Drake Maye was the lone bright spot on the Patriots offense. He did have his struggles any rookie would but he was making plays through the air and on the ground. The hire of Mike Vrabel brings new energy with an established head coach that can spark some discipline into the team, especially as it comes to dropped passes and fumbles.

#23: Chicago Bears

Offseason focus: Fix the O-Line

Caleb Williams was sacked 16 more times than the next closest quarterback with 68 total times on the year. That equates to an average of 4 times per game. This is awful and needs to change and that starts with the O-Line. The Bears need to spend draft capital and invest in the position heavily if they don’t want Caleb Williams to fail like Justin Fields did in Chicago.

#22: Indianapolis Colts

Offseason focus: Commit to Anthony Richardson

The Colts could not make up their mind in the 2024 season with Anthony Richardson as they went back & forth on Richardson to Flacco. This does not allow someone who has a unique style to develop and stunts his progress. If the Colts want to succeed with Richardson which they nearly made the playoffs, falling just short with an 8-9 record, they need to fully commit to him or move on.

#21: Arizona Cardinals

Offseason focus: Bolster the defensive line

Arizona had one of the worst defenses in the league last year, with a lot of the issues coming from the lack of pressure they brought upon opposing quarterbacks. This is priority #1 for Arizona and the secondary would be filling other holes on defense.

#20: Dallas Cowboys

Offseason focus: Add a running back

The Cowboys had the 6th worst running game in all of the NFL this past season. That’s even with Dak Prescott being out for over half the year in a time where teams typically turn to their running game to help out more, they still underperformed. The Cowboys need a running back and Ashton Jeanty is their guy.

#19: Pittsburgh Steelers

Offseason focus: Address the quarterback situation

The Steelers continue to narrowly squeak into the playoffs with their defense carrying the load of the work each year. Since Ben Roethlisberger has been out of the picture, they haven’t had a true franchise quarterback. They split time this past year between Justin Fields & Russell Wilson with both showing signs of promise, Fields with his legs and Wilson with the moon ball. It is fine if they choose to carry both into next year but they can also swing a trade for someone like Kirk Cousins or Matthew Stafford who can instantly elevate their offense and this is what they should explore doing.

#18: Seattle Seahawks

Offseason focus: Pay the right players

The Seahawks have underperformed the last several seasons in the post Russell Wilson era and a lot of that has been inconsistent play from previous key performers. They are middle of the road for cap space, but they need to ensure they pay the right players in the offseason and not overspend on players past their prime. A couple areas to address are the offensive line & secondary.

#17: Miami Dolphins

Offseason focus: Complete culture shift

It’s apparent that Mike McDaniel is a friend of the players, but he’s not a leader. He lacks the discipline that coaches that succeed in the NFL possess. It was apparent when Vic Fangio left and turned the Eagles defense into Super Bowl Champions while the Dolphins defense collapsed this past season. The Dolphins need to change their attitude and it goes even higher than McDaniel with Chris Grief.

#16: Atlanta Falcons

Offseason focus: The Defense

The Falcons have had glaring holes on the defense for years, but have invested in the offense through the draft for 4 years in a row with Pitts, London, Bijan, and Penix Jr. The 2 questionable decisions being Pitts and especially Penix Jr. The Falcons missed out on some studs through the draft and they need to add to the defense desperately. Outside of AJ Terrell, the Falcons don’t have a secondary and they lack any presence on the front line. The Falcons should look to add both positions through the draft.

#15: Cincinnati Bengals

Offseason focus: Don’t wait until last minute with Tee Higgins

The Bengals have some serious talent that need to be paid. It’s likely that they can’t afford them all with Tee Higgins being one of them. If they can’t afford him, they need to let him walk so they can retain their defensive players. Last couple years, the Bengals have placed franchise tag on Higgins and opted to keep him on it without making long term deal late into the off-season, they can’t do that this year. They need to choose to pay him or move on from him so they can focus on the bigger talent.

#14: Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Offseason Focus: Invest in the Defense

The Buccaneers narrowly made it into the playoffs and that was largely due to the play of Baker Mayfield who carried them. Mayfield has revitalized his career in Tampa Bay. However, for Tampa Bay, their offense was not the issue, it was the defense, more specifically the lack of a pass rush. Without being able to bring the pressure, the Bucs defense gave up the 4th most passing yards on the season. Linebacker is their biggest area of weakness and with their middle of the road cap space, this should be priority #1.

#13: San Francisco 49ers

Offseason focus: Recover from injuries

Arguably the team hit the hardest by injuries in the 2024 season was the San Francisco 49ers. On both sides of the ball, it was as if they were missing half the team on any given day. The 49ers don’t need to add too much to their contender roster, everybody just needs to heal up and be ready in time for week 1.

#12: Los Angeles Rams

Offseason focus: Add a wide receiver #2

It was apparent when healthy that Cooper Kupp lost his edge and was disfavored in the offense. Behind Puka Nacua, the Rams need to add a weapon desperately. Their defense made up for the loss of Aaron Donald, now it’s time to focus on the offense for them to take control of the NFC West.

#11: Houston Texans

Offseason focus: Protect CJ Stroud

Behind Caleb Williams, CJ Stroud was the 2nd most sacked quarterback in football. With not having a top 10 pick in the draft, the Texans should focus their efforts on improving their O-Line through free agency. There’s a couple big names out there like Trey Smith & Ronnie Stanley that would instantly bolster their pass protection.

#10: Denver Broncos

Offseason focus: Build around Bo Nix

Outside of Cortland Sutton, the Broncos playmakers on offense were awful. Their leading rusher and wide receiver #2 barely managed 500 yards. Even with this lack of talent around him, Bo Nix still managed almost 4,000 yards passing, 29 passing touchdowns, & over 400 rushing yards. Nix was doing it all, but he shouldn’t have to, the Broncos need a running back and a wide receiver #2 that is reliable behind Sutton to grow into the #1 option.

#9: Minnesota Vikings

Offseason focus: Make a QB decision early

The Vikings have a tough decision on their hand having to decide between retaining Sam Darnold as their quarterback who emerged as a MVP candidate or turning back to JJ McCarthy who they drafted #10 overall last year. Regardless of what the Vikings choose, they need to do it before the NFL draft this year to get draft capital for the one they are moving on from. Keeping Daniel Jones on the roster if they can restructure his contract also makes sense.

#8: Green Bay Packers

Offseason focus: Add a true wide receiver #1

The Packers are a good team and Jordan Love is developing into one of the better quarterbacks in the league. To catapult Love into that next tier, the Packers should look into locking him down a true #1 receiver. The Packers have a lot of talent around Love that are very good receivers, but nobody has emerged as that #1 go to guy. Jayden Reed has shown flashes of being that, but inconsistency has hurt him. Reed does have what it takes, so the Packers need to focus on developing him or adding someone through trade / free agency.

#7: Los Angeles Chargers

Offseason focus: Add a running back

Much like fellow AFC West quarterback Bo Nix, Justin Herbert needs some help, big time. Before another injury, JK Dobbins showed flashes of greatness, but that fell flat hard. The Chargers need to bring in a dual threat back like former back Austin Ekeler to give Herbert the support he deserves and this will allow for Ladd McConkey to turn into a true wide receiver #1.

#6: Washington Commanders

Offseason focus: Don’t lose the momentum

Jayden Daniels was absolutely electric all season long and won the rookie of the year in a landslide. His rookie season reminded us a lot of CJ Stroud’s from just a season before with Houston also going on an incredible run. In the case of the Texans, Stroud and company took a bit of a slump this past year. Daniels needs to not have that sophomore slump and Washington needs to continue to gain momentum, possibly by adding another weapon for Daniels who often turned to his legs when Terry McLaurin was not open.

#5: Detroit Lions

Offseason focus: Acclimating to new coordinators

The Detroit Lions came out of nowhere this year and had the best record in the NFC until they collapsed in the playoffs. This led to both Ben Johnson & Aaron Glenn landing head coaching jobs elsewhere in the league. The Lions biggest challenge heading into next year is going to be acclimating to the new coordinators and not losing the momentum that they had this year.

#4: Kansas City Chiefs

Offseason focus: Retain core players

The Chiefs failed to 3peat as Super Bowl Champions and have a lot of players from their roster who are pending free agents. The 2 that they need to focus on are keeping Nick Bolton and Trey Smith, even if they need to dish out more than they’re willing to pay. Both are younger players who are centerpieces on their respective sides of the field. They need to let players like DHop & Hunt walk to focus on the 2 big ones.

#3: Baltimore Ravens

Offseason focus: Spend the money for a quality Left Tackle

Ronnie Stanley is a solid left tackle and a good option if they’re able to retain him. However, his production is a fraction of what it once was. The Ravens need to protect Lamar Jackson and that starts with the blind side. There are a couple better options available and even if they overpay, it’s worth it to protect the MVP runner up.

#2: Buffalo Bills

Offseason focus: Solve the defensive back gap

It was apparent when Christian Benford went down in the first that their pass defense needed work. The Chiefs took full advantage of that & tore the Bills defense apart. The Bills need to invest in multiple defensive backs this offseason and they are our favorites to make the Super Bowl from the AFC next year if they do that.

#1: Philadelphia Eagles

Offseason focus: Offensive coordinator

Less than 24 hours after winning the Super Bowl, Kellen Moore announced he was going to become the new head coach of the New Orleans Saints. The Eagles have yet to fill his position, but they need to take their time with this decision and not just hire someone urgently to fill the position. The Eagles need someone like Moore who can utilize their talents to their advantage and lean into their strengths like not having to rely on Jalen Hurts & leveraging Saquon Barkley more. Regardless, the Eagles are the team to beat heading into next season & can repeat.
