2024 Fantasy Football Week 9: Start or Sit Wide Receivers

Each week we’ll break down wide receivers that should start in your fantasy lineup and wide receivers that would be better left on your bench. There are some players like Justin Jefferson & CeeDee Lamb who are matchup proof and should be in your starting lineups every week barring a major circumstance.

Wide Receivers to Start in Week 9:

Chris Olave

Chris Olave had his best game of the season last week after a bit of a sluggish start to the year. Regardless of who plays quarterback for the Saints, Chris Olave is elevated to starter status against Carolina who’s been lit up by every team they’ve played this year.

Ladd McConkey

Ladd McConkey finally had his breakout game against the New Orleans Saints with over 100 yards receiving. McConkey is quickly becoming the #1 option for quarterback Justin Herbert. We like McConkey the rest of the way and especially this next game against a Cleveland team that is 2-6.

Josh Downs

Joe Flacco is playing and everyone on the Colts offense immediately is upgraded, specifically Josh Downs the most who is elevated to starter status.

Wide Receivers to Sit in Week 9:

Diontae Johnson & Zay Flowers

The Baltimore Ravens made a move to bolster their offense that hasn’t looked the best in the passing game by trading for Diontae Johnson. Johnson will be active on Sunday for the Ravens. What we’ve seen this year for the veteran receivers who have been traded to new teams, haven’t done much in their first games as they learn the new offense. This is our reason for benching Johnson, for Flowers, Johnson is going to take away some targets from him. On top of that, they face a Broncos defense with Patrick Surtain II who locks down defenders.

Keenan Allen

The veteran wide receiver’s days of being a reliable wide receiver are over. He might have a game or two where he goes off and even in a game that’s supposed to be a shootout, we don’t see him getting the targets, but rather DJ Moore and Cole Kmet.
