Each week we’ll break down three players that should start in your fantasy lineup and three that would be better left on the bench per position. There are players like Josh Allen & Lamar Jackson who are matchup proof and should be in your starting lineups every week barring a major circumstance.
Quarterbacks to Start in Week 8:
Caleb Williams
After a quiet start to the season, the Chicago Bears have been turning it up and more specifically Caleb Williams. The last 2 games, he’s thrown for over 500 yards, rushed for 90, & thrown 4 touchdowns. The competition in those 2 games definitely played a factor & Washington is another defense that gives up a lot through the air, setting up a 3rd favorable matchup for Caleb Williams in a row.
CJ Stroud
After putting up an absolute dud and the worst game of his career, we expect CJ Stroud to bounce back. After a loss, CJ Stroud has come back to win the next games almost every time in his professional career. Stroud’s bound to bounce back and we’re expecting him to do that & more with potential to be top 5 quarterback on the week.
Bo Nix
Bo Nix lands himself on this list for the first time all season and it is all thanks to the matchup against the worst team in the league in Carolina. Nix might only have 1,200 yards passing, 5 passing touchdowns to go with 5 interceptions on the year, but where he’ll make himself relevant is with his legs. Nix is currently 4th in rushing yards amongst all quarterbacks with over 250 on the season and likely to eclipse 300 after this game. He’s a sleeper start as Denver pummels over the Panthers.
Quarterbacks to Sit in Week 8:
Baker Mayfield
Despite being top 3 fantasy quarterback on the season, Baker lands himself on the sit list for the first time this season. Baker has done an incredible job all year, but losing his two top receivers in the same game is going to cause any quarterback to struggle, especially when the next best receiver is Jalen McMillan. Even if the matchup was against a team other than the Falcons, Baker would be a sit candidate until at least Mike Evans is back.
Dak Prescott
The bye isn’t going to be enough to convince us that Dak Prescott is starting worthy. The 49ers have been one of the best defenses against the pass despite their 3-4 record. Most of Dak’s fantasy points have come from behind and we expect that trend to continue against San Francisco with passing yards, but we don’t expect him to find the end zone much to be worth starting.
Anthony Richardson
Richardson has boom or bust this season and it doesn’t matter if the opponent is good or bad. Last week against a bad Dolphins defense, he couldn’t get it going and the competition is a step up in Houston and it’s not going to be much better. Until Richardson gets things figured out, we’re not trusting him despite the big boom potential.
