2024 Fantasy Football Week 7: Start or Sit Running Backs

Each week we’ll break down running backs that should start in your fantasy lineup and running backs that would be better left on your bench. There are just a few players like Saquon Barkley or Derrick Henry who are matchup proof and should be in your starting lineups every week barring a major circumstance.

Running Backs to Start in Week 7:

Tank Bigsby

With only 3 carries for negative 1 yard last week, Travis Etienne is losing his starting role every game. Coaches claim it was an injury that sidelined him, but he was standing on the sideline with his helmet on for the majority of the game, ready to go in at a moment’s notice. Who replaced Etienne was none other than Tank Bigsby who is quietly emerging as a star. A favorable matchup against New England could end with Bigsby returning back to the United States as the starter.

Chuba Hubbard

The Panthers have been delaying the progress of Jonathan Brooks for a reason. Chuba Hubbard has been a top fantasy running back this year and is making a case for a starting job somewhere in the league. Even when down big which is most likely going to be the case again this weekend, the Panthers still utilize Chuba Hubbard in both the ground & pass game, Hubbard is a must start.

Brian Robinson Jr

On the other side of the field in the Carolina matchup is the Washington Commanders and running back Brian Robinson Jr. The Commanders are likely to win big and lean on their running backs to kill the clock. That is going to lead to a high amount of touches for Brian Robinson Jr who should rack up a big yardage performance even if he doesn’t find the end zone.

Running Backs to Sit in Week 7:

Trey Sermon

In the last game that Trey Sermon filled in for Jonathan Taylor, he was rather disappointing. With Anthony Richardson back as well, he’ll take more of the ground game away from the running back room. Sermon is better left on the bench.

Zack Moss

Another running back who’s slowly losing his starting job is Zack Moss as 2nd year back Chase Brown continues to shine for the Cincinnati Bengals. Despite the losses, Cleveland’s defense is still playing well, it’s their offense that has let them down. This defense should hold their own against Cincinnati’s running back, but more particularly Zack Moss who doesn’t hold as much upside as Chase Brown does through the air.

Jordan Mason

Don’t get us wrong, Jordan Mason has been incredible this season filling in for Christian McCaffrey. Jordan Mason is also worth a start as a potential flex, but as a RB1 or RB2, he is too risky of a play against the undefeated Chiefs. Mason was limited in practice this week and he’s set to play, but we expect the 49ers to rely on their other backs and through the pass game more heavily, especially in a game against a team as strong as Kansas City.
