2024 Fantasy Football Week 5: Start or Sit Quarterbacks

Each week we’ll break down three players that should start in your fantasy lineup and three that would be better left on the bench per position. There are players like Josh Allen & Lamar Jackson who are matchup proof and should be in your starting lineups every week barring a major circumstance.

Quarterbacks to Start in Week 5:

Jordan Love

In his first game back from a MCL sprain, Jordan Love came alive in the second half with a huge game. It’s safe to say that Jordan Love is back & is going to eat up the Rams defense that has struggled lately.

Andy Dalton

Dalton has thrown over 500 yards in his two starts thus far & could easily get up to 800 yards on the year against his former team. Dalton has this offense coming alive & we’re rolling with the Red Rifle to beat Chicago & have another high yardage performance.

Brock Purdy

The Arizona Cardinals have been allowing opposing quarterbacks to put up high scoring fantasy matchups against them and for Brock Purdy who hasn’t been having the best fantasy season, this is a nice break for him. Purdy & the 49ers are going to light up the Cardinals on their way to a big victory.

Quarterbacks to Sit in Week 5:

Patrick Mahomes

The days of Mahomes being a weekly start are over. He’s not a top 10 fantasy quarterback anymore and will likely finish outside of the top 10 this week. The Saints have an above average pass defense and have held opposing quarterbacks this season rather well. Without Rice, Brown, & Pacheco available, Mahomes is going to need to work extra hard and it’s just going to be tough to do that.

Joe Burrow

We love Joe Burrow for the rest of the season, but going against Baltimore, a team that has held Dak Prescott & Josh Allen to some of their worst performances on the season, we’re not loving Burrow in this one. Joe Burrow & the Bengals are going to have a long day against their division rivals.

Justin Fields

It’s tempting to start Justin Fields after he just dropped 30+ fantasy points, but that matchup was against the Colts who aren’t as good as the typical Colts defense that we’ve been used to seeing in recent years. Justin Fields now faces Dallas and even without Micah Parsons, the Steelers offense is going to face one of their toughest challenges yet.
