Through 3 weeks of the NFL Season, we have 5 teams that remain unbeaten and 3 that remain winless. We’ll be looking at if each of those teams will remain unbeaten or winless & the matchups across the league. Through 3 weeks, we are 29-19 in predicting matchups.
Dallas Cowboys at New York Giants
Both the Cowboys and the Giants enter this game at 1-2, with both playing below expectations. The Cowboys got destroyed by New Orleans and were down big against Baltimore before a failed comeback. The Giants got their first win but even amidst their low expectations, Daniel Jones continues to play below that. Malik Nabers has been the lone bright spot for the entire team & he’ll put the Cowboys on alert. That isn’t going to be enough to beat the Cowboys as the Cowboys do what they do best and that is beat the Giants as they’ve won 13 of the last 14 matchups between the two teams.
Winner: Dallas Cowboys
New Orleans Saints at Atlanta Falcons
Derek Carr has this offense rolling this season as they’ve had 2 commanding wins and a loss against an Eagles team that is only 2 years removed from being in the Super Bowl. Derek Carr has the 2nd best QBR in the league, meanwhile Kirk Cousins is a bit rusty still after coming off the torn acl. Cousins needs more time to get back into the swing of things, but he’ll get there, it’s just going to take time. The Saints are going to be an issue for Kirk & company as they boast one of the best secondaries in the entire league.
Winner: New Orleans Saints
Los Angeles Rams at Chicago Bears
The Los Angeles Rams turned their season around with a big win against the San Francisco 49ers. Despite the losses on offense, the Rams can still light up the Chicago Bears defense. Caleb Williams & the entire Bears team has struggled mightily this season & it’s going to be a long season for them. The Rams have a chance to get things back on track & will move to .500 after an 0-2 start.
Winner: Los Angeles Rams
Minnesota Vikings at Green Bay Packers
The Vikings & Packers always play each other tough and this game is going to be another hard fought battle. Both teams have had backup quarterbacks step up into some big roles. With JJ McCarthy done for the year, Sam Darnold has capitalized on his second chance for his career and has been a top 5 quarterback on the year and has the Vikings unbeaten. Malik Willis for the Packers just beat his former team in Tennessee and has won 2 straight. Jordan Love might be back for Green Bay, but even if he is playing, he’ll be banged up and not his best. The Vikings defense has been a big surprise this year and will be good enough to stop a banged up Love or Malik Willis. This game also means a lot for former Packers running back Aaron Jones who is on a mission to prove that the Packers made a mistake letting him go.
Winner: Minnesota Vikings
Pittsburgh Steelers at Indianapolis Colts
The Steelers & Colts both have struggled offensively, but where the two teams differentiate is with their defenses. The Steelers have the league’s best defense and the Colts have the league’s worst so far. The Steelers have only given up 26 total points between 3 games & we don’t think the Colts will score more than 14 against this elite unit. The Steelers will move to 4-0 behind backup Justin Fields.
Winner: Pittsburgh Steelers
Denver Broncos at New York Jets
The Broncos were one of the biggest surprises of week 3 with their upset victory over the Buccaneers. Bo Nix played the best game of his career, but we’re not sure how long that play will last. Going against a Jets team that can shut down opponents, Bo Nix’s hope quickly comes crashing down.
Winner: New York Jets
Philadelphia Eagles at Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are giving up an average of 138 rushing yards per game. They now face the league’s leading rusher in Saquon Barkley which spells trouble for the Buccaneers who just got plummeted by the Denver Broncos. The Eagles move to 3-1 with the offseason acquisition of Saquon Barkley continuing to pay off.
Winner: Philadelphia Eagles
Cincinnati Bengals at Carolina Panthers
It’s a reunion between Andy Dalton & the Cincinnati Bengals. Dalton has temporarily taken over the starting job in Carolina after the benching of Bryce Young and just in time to face his old team. Dalton was terrific last week with over 300 yards passing and 3 touchdowns. Joe Burrow hasn’t managed to do that yet this year, but it’s possible both passers can do that feat in this game. Dalton sparked life into a previously dormant offense and he’s going to try to beat his former team, but he’s going to fall just short. The Bengals are 0-3 and there’s no shot that Joe Burrow is going to let them fall to 0-4 as he’s currently entering his villain era.
Winner: Cincinnati Bengals
Jacksonville Jaguars at Houston Texans
The AFC South has been the worst division in football this year and with this win, the Houston Texans will separate themselves even further from the rest of the pack. The Texans are on their way to being 3-1 and the Jaguars will somehow be a surprising 0-4. With the inevitable loss against Houston, the Jaguars are going to make some drastic change after the game, either with the offense or the coaching.
Winner: Houston Texans
Washington Commanders at Arizona Cardinals
This is going to surprisingly be a very entertaining game to watch with two offensive playmakers under center for each team. The Cardinals have Kyler Murray who just put up 40 against the Rams two weeks ago and the Commanders have Jayden Daniels who finally threw a passing touchdown and looked in perfect form against the Bengals on Monday Night Football. This should be a close high scoring affair and it’s going to come down to which team can hold the other off in the 4th and that’s Arizona. The Commanders did do that against Cincinnati, but they’ve been disappointing this year and Kyler’s experience allows him to hold off the rookie challenger in Jayden Daniels.
Winner: Arizona Cardinals
New England Patriots at San Francisco 49ers
The Patriots and the 49ers both might be 1-2, but one team feels like they belong in this category and the other does not. It’s not hard to guess which one is which. The 49ers are going to blow the Patriots out of the water even with their offense that is very scrappy and injured right now.
Winner: San Francisco 49ers
Cleveland Browns at Las Vegas Raiders
Both the Browns and the Raiders have offensive struggles that they need to overcome. Both struggles stem from the quarterback position with Watson being a joke of not only a player, but a person as a whole. The Raiders benched Minshew in the game for Aidan O’Connell but are rocking with Minshew to start again this weekend. Regardless of who plays, the game is going to come down to the defenses and we like Cleveland’s much better. The Raiders just got lit up by the Panthers with Andy Dalton & Cleveland’s been able to hold their own, but it’s the offense that hasn’t helped and has lost them 2 games this year. The Browns defense prevails once again for them in a closely won game.
Winner: Cleveland Browns
Kansas City Chiefs at Los Angeles Chargers
The defending Super Bowl champions are looking to be the first team in NFL history to win 3 in a row and they’re off to a good start with a 3-0 record. All 3 of those games came down to the final minute in which they pulled out the victory in each. The Chiefs continue to win in these gritty games and a Chargers team with a banged up Herbert aren’t going to give the Chiefs their first loss.
Winner: Kansas City Chiefs
Buffalo Bills at Baltimore Ravens
This Sunday Night matchup feels like it’s a trap for the Buffalo Bills. The Bills are 3-0 and play at Baltimore who’s looking to redeem themselves after a poor 0-2 start. Will the Bills remain unbeaten or will Baltimore spoil their aspirations? It’s going to be a close game with each team scoring 20+ points, but Josh Allen works his magic to put Buffalo on top and Baltimore be the most surprising 1-3 team in the league.
Winner: Buffalo Bills
Tennessee Titans at Miami Dolphins
If Tua Tagovailoa was playing in this game, it would be the Dolphins by a million. Without Tua, we saw how pathetic the Dolphins offense is. Skylar Thompson should not be a NFL quarterback and Tim Boyle came in to replace him, sparking a little bit of life, but still failing to be relevant. Assuming one of those two start and not Tyler Huntley, the Dolphins can seriously lose to the Titans at home which should light a fire under Dolphins management to make a serious change and bring in someone that can actually help them compete.
Winner: Tennessee Titans
Seattle Seahawks at Detroit Lions
The Seahawks might be undefeated, but the 3 wins have come up against Bo Nix, Jacoby Brissett, & Skylar Thompson / Tim Boyle. They have yet to face a real quarterback & offense this season. They now get their first true test of the year in a road matchup against Detroit and it’s not going to go well for them. The Lions are a significant step up in competition & going to be to hand Seattle their first loss.
