2024 Fantasy Football Week 3: Start or Sit Wide Receivers

Each week we’ll break down wide receivers that should start in your fantasy lineup and wide receivers that would be better left on your bench. There are some players like Tyreek Hill & CeeDee Lamb who are matchup proof and should be in your starting lineups every week barring a major circumstance.

Wide Receivers to Start in Week 3:

Brandon Aiyuk

After 2 disappointing games to start the season, Aiyuk has finished with a combined 71 receiving yards through those 2 games. For someone who held out until he got a deal or traded, he’s certainly not playing like it was worth that wait. With an abundance of injuries to the roster, Aiyuk is the #1 option on the offense and should see a high volume game. Aiyuk is one of our favorite streaming options this week.

Jameson Williams

Jameson Williams is already over halfway to the total he had all of last season. Through 2 games, Williams is already at 200 yards and could very well top his 354 yard season last year this week. It’s going to be a back & forth game with plenty of scoring and Williams is an explosive player that can get over 150 yards if the cards are aligned.

Khalil Shakir

With the departure of Stefon Diggs, the Bills had a question mark at who will take over the #1 spot on the team and currently, it’s been Khalil Shakir stepping up in year 3. Shakir doesn’t have many yards on the year, but the Bills didn’t need to pass much in week 2. That will change as the year goes on and we think the Jaguars will put up more of a fight than Miami did, so Shakir should see more targets and finish as the Bills #1 receiver on the week.

Wide Receivers to Sit in Week 3:

Jaylen Waddle

The Dolphins are forced to start Skylar Thompson at quarterback with Tua out on injured reserve with another concussion. With Skylar Thompson at quarterback, the entire Dolphins offense is seriously downgraded. Jaylen Waddle who is normally a starting caliber receiver needs to be benched. Tyreek Hill should be benched if you have better options but we understand with him that you’ll still need to start. Waddle is going to need to be benched as long as Skylar Thompson is starting at quarterback as the options at flex are plentiful.

Michael Pittman Jr

With Anthony Richardson’s sophomore slump, Michael Pittman Jr is on pace for the worst season of his career. He has a total of 52 yards on 7 receptions for an average of 7.4 yards per catch. His previous low was in 2022 with an average reception of 9.3 yards per catch but that’s when he pulled in over 900 receiving yards. The Colts get a favorable matchup against the Bears, but with Richardson’s play, we’re not liking starting Pittman Jr until Richardson gets his act together.

Jayden Reed

Jayden Reed leads all Green Bay receivers with 147 yards receiving on the year. Unfortunately, 138 of them came in week 1 when Jordan Love was playing and only managed 9 yards in week 2 with Malik Willis starting. With Malik Willis likely to be the starter again, Jayden Reed needs to be benched in favor of other receiver options until Love is back and the passing game is back to normal.
