Each week we’ll break down wide receivers that should start in your fantasy lineup and wide receivers that would be better left on your bench. There are some players like Tyreek Hill & CeeDee Lamb who are matchup proof and should be in your starting lineups every week barring a major circumstance.
Wide Receivers to Start in Week 2:
Malik Nabers
Finishing with only 5 catches in week 1, Malik Nabers was the clear #1 receiver for the Giants offense. This offense is bad, but they face a Washington defense who is also bad. Nabers could have his first breakout game of the year.
Chris Godwin
Godwin was in our week 1 wide receiver to start article & was very solid last week. He remains in this section in a game that should see a lot of scoring. Godwin & Evans should both finish as top 20 fantasy receivers on the week.
Amari Cooper
Cooper was bad last week, but the entire offense was pretty much bad against an elite Cowboys defense. The Browns now play a Jaguars defense that allowed massive games from Tyreek Hill & Jaylen Waddle. With David Njoku out, that’s one less person to take targets away from #1 receiver Amari Cooper.
Wide Receivers to Sit in Week 2:
Davante Adams
This is going to be a down year for the former Pro Bowl receiver & in a week 2 matchup against an elite defense does not help. Davante Adams might do well in PPR formats seeing a high amount of targets, but in terms of yards & touchdowns, don’t expect much from him.
Jayden Reed
Jayden Reed finished with 138 yards and a touchdown against Philadelphia. That was also with Jordan Love who is going to be out. Malik Willis is a major downgrade and we’re expecting very sloppy play from him. Reed is also dealing with an injury himself that he’ll play through, with his injury & Willis playing, Reed is going to come nowhere near his week 1 production.
George Pickens
This feels like a trap game for George Pickens. A game where he should have a monster week, but Justin Fields is playing & the whole offensive playbook is different. The Steelers are going to lean heavily towards the run & even if they do throw, Pickens is going to need to line up against Patrick Surtain II. So if the Steelers play well in the passing game, it’s going to be to their other receiving options.
