2024 Fantasy Football Week 2: Start or Sit Running Backs: JK Dobbins is Back!

Each week we’ll break down running backs that should start in your fantasy lineup and running backs that would be better left on your bench. There are just a few players like Breece Hall who are matchup proof and should be in your starting lineups every week barring a major circumstance.

Running Backs to Start in Week 2:

JK Dobbins

Coming in as the #2 back for the Chargers, Dobbins seems to have his career back on track. He was electric with 135 yards last week and should only see his workload increase. Going against Carolina, Dobbins is in for a monster day.

Josh Jacobs

With Jordan Love out, Malik Willis is getting the call. He’s not nearly as strong of a passer as Jordan Love is, so we expect the Packers to rely on the veteran back to lift some of the weight off the inexperienced quarterback. On top of that, the Colts just let Joe Mixon run for 150 yards and a touchdown, Jacobs won’t get that high, but we expect a high yardage game with lots of touches.

Joe Mixon

Coming off one of the best games of his career, Joe Mixon is going to continue that streak in week 2 with a very favorable matchup against the lowly Bears. The Texans offense is going to light up the scoreboard and there’s going to be plenty of red zone opportunities for Mixon to score.

Running Backs to Sit in Week 2:

Javonte Williams

The Steelers defense was effective in limiting the Falcons offense in week 1. Their defense is in the upper echelon of teams, despite their offensive struggles and will make it tough for any opponent going against them including a Denver team led by rookie quarterback Bo Nix. The Broncos are going to be airing it out a lot in this game and the Broncos backs are not going to see many carries.

Rhamondre Stevenson

Somehow the Patriots pulled out an upset on the road in Cincinnati. A key part of their offense was centered around back Rhamondre Stevenson. We expect him to continue getting a lot of usage this season, but expecting a 125 yard game and touchdown is not likely to repeat against Seattle. The game script was favorable against Cincinnati, this time they’ll be playing from behind. Stevenson is a potential flex play, but not as one of your lead back spots.

D’Andre Swift

Swift was limited to 30 rushing yards against Tennessee. The whole offense of Chicago looked bad and now they get a staunch Texans defense that held Jonathan Taylor to 50 yards. It’s going to be a long night for Chicago & specifically D’Andre Swift who wishes he signed elsewhere in the offseason.
