2024 Fantasy Football Week 1: Start or Sit Quarterbacks

The start of fantasy football is here & each week we’ll break down three players that should start in your fantasy lineup and three that would be better left on the bench per position. There are players like Patrick Mahomes & Lamar Jackson who are matchup proof and should be in your starting lineups every week barring a major circumstance.

Quarterbacks to Start:

Jared Goff

The Rams were one of the worst teams against opposing quarterbacks last season. This season, they are without future Hall of Famer Aaron Donald for the first time in a decade and it’s going to be ugly. On Sunday Night Football, expect Goff to light up the Rams defense and have a monster performance. 

Matthew Stafford

In only his second game at Ford Field since being traded away from the Lions, Matthew Stafford is ready for a shootout. Stafford is going to give it his all even if the team around him doesn’t live up to standards which is something Lions fans know very well from his playing days. 

Baker Mayfield

Mayfield earned himself a nice payday from the Buccaneers and for good reason. Mayfield proved he is a starter in this league and he’s going to start off the season proving he is worth every penny with a top 10 performance against one of the worst teams in the league.

Quarterbacks to Sit:

Dak Prescott

Prescott is a borderline top 5 fantasy quarterback overall, but going against one of the league’s toughest defenses in week 1, we’d avoid him and the entire Cowboys offense except CeeDee Lamb against Cleveland. 

Aaron Rodgers & Brock Purdy

Both Rodgers & Purdy are featured together as they are both high risk, high reward players in their matchup against one another. Rodgers only played 4 snaps all of last year and for Purdy, the Jets along with Rodgers are notorious for trying to slow the game down which is going to hurt Purdy and the 49ers passing game for getting opportunities. The 49ers & Jets are going to need to adjust to each other’s play styles and there is going to be some growing pains with that.
