Each week we’ll break down three players that should start in your fantasy lineup and three that would be better left on the bench per position. There are players like Patrick Mahomes & Lamar Jackson who are matchup proof and should be in your starting lineups every week barring a major circumstance.
Quarterbacks to Start:
Joe Flacco
It’s been good to see Joe Flacco playing football again and this is the best he’s looked in years. He looks to be in a good form, especially for someone who was sitting on their couch just a few weeks ago. Flacco’s one of our favorite starts this week against a Chicago defense that tends to get lit up by opposing offenses.
Sam Howell
Howell is top 5 in passing yards in the NFL but is outside the top 10 in touchdowns since the team doesn’t perform super well in the red zone. Howell is fantasy relevant each week strictly due to yardage. If the Commanders could get more points on the scoreboard, he would be a top 5 option every week. We like him this week for the yardage aspect as we expect them to be playing another game from behind where he’ll put up garbage time yardage.
Brock Purdy
We love Brock Purdy this week to be a top 5 fantasy option against an Arizona defense that has allowed some of the most points to opposing offenses this season. The 49ers are double digit favorites against the Cardinals for a reason and we expect them to win big against them with Purdy having another big game and clinching the NFC West title for the 49ers in the process.
Quarterbacks to Sit:
Trevor Lawrence
Lawrence has been playing through the injury and we think this is the wrong move by the Jaguars organization. They should let him heal up and be ready for the playoffs. Instead he is fighting through the injury and the offense is struggling along with Lawrence. With a matchup against a tough Baltimore defense, Lawrence will continue to struggle and if the Jaguars knew better, they’d keep him on the sidelines this week.
Jared Goff
The Lions latest struggles continue as they lose as the favorites at home once again. The Broncos are on a hot streak as winners of 6 of the last 7 and we think they’re going to provide a tough test to the Lions who are slipping down the standings. Goff is a fade for us this week as we expect him to have multiple turnovers against a Broncos defense that has drastically turned things around since their 70-20 beatdown in week 3.
Kyler Murray
Murray’s been back for about a month now and hasn’t been the typical Murray we’re used to seeing. He’s shown flashes of his old self, but it’s pretty clear that he could have used more time to heal. Going against the 49ers is going to be a long game for Murray as the 49ers boast one of the league’s best defenses. We expect Murray to be in shape by next season, but it’s going to be a long last 4 weeks of the season with matchups against the 49ers, Eagles, and Seahawks ahead.
