2023 Fantasy Football Week 6: Start Em’ or Sit Em’ Tight Ends

Each week we’ll break down one player that should start in your fantasy lineup and one that would be better left on the bench per position. There are players like Travis Kelce and Mark Andrews who are matchup proof and should be in your starting lineups every week barring a major circumstance.

Tight Ends to Start:

Cole Kmet

Kmet has 3 touchdowns over the last 2 games as the Bears offense has finally come alive. The Bears offense should stay hot against a weak Minnesota defense. Justin Fields is going to be throwing a lot in this matchup with multiple running backs out, so look for DJ Moore and Cole Kmet to see a high number of targets and yards.

Dallas Goedert

The Jets are without their top two corners and that’s going to spell trouble against the Eagles who have a solid trio of AJ Brown, Devonta Smith, and Dallas Goedert for Jalen Hurts to throw the ball to. The Jets are going to focus on top receiver AJ Brown and will leave tight end Goedert open for him to have another productive day as the Eagles continue to get him more involved.

Evan Engram

With Zay Jones out, the Jaguars 3rd receiver is going to be Evan Engram. The Colts also have been friendly to tight ends so far this year. Engram is definitely worth starting if you don’t already have Kelce or Hockenson.

Tight Ends to Sit:

Dalton Schultz

After a nice 20 point fantasy performance, it’s going to be tempting to want to start Dalton Schultz, but we can assure you that will be a mistake if you do. Even when he was with the Cowboys, Schultz struggled to stay consistent. This is going to be a game where he regresses and will see limited production.

David Njoku

Similar to why we’re fading Amari Cooper, as long as Watson is out, the rest of the Browns offense will need to be sat. They just aren’t going to be able to move the ball downfield well and have very many scoring opportunities.

Darren Waller

With Daniel Jones out, the Giants are going to seriously struggle against the Buffalo Bills who have one of the best defenses in the league. Even with Daniel Jones in at quarterback, Waller hasn’t been a top 5 tight end like in years past. We still think he’s in the better half of tight ends in the league, but he can’t be trusted as a tight end #1 anymore, he’s a boom or bust candidate currently.
