Each week we’ll break down one player that should start in your fantasy lineup and one that would be better left on the bench per position. There are players like Stefon Diggs and Tyreek Hill who are matchup proof and should be in your starting lineups every week barring a major circumstance.
Wide Receivers to Start:
Adam Thielen
The Vikings probably wished they had Adam Thielen back with Justin Jefferson being placed on the IR. Thielen’s been balling out in Carolina with rookie quarterback Bryce Young. Thielen’s become a consistent wide receiver and should be used as such for the time being.
Jordan Addison
With Jefferson out, the two players that should see the biggest target increase are Addison and Hockenson. Addison steps into Jefferson’s role which is big shoes to fill. He’s not going to have the 200 yard games that Jefferson can put up, but he should see a high share of targets and deep balls with his speed. Addison is going to break out over the next month starting with a big game against Chicago.
Jakobi Meyers
This is a revenge game for Jakobi Meyers against his former team in New England. New England gave up on him and he’s playing well in Las Vegas right now with another former Patriot as his quarterback. Meyers is going to have a big game as he’s on a mission to prove to Belichick that he made a mistake.
Wide Receivers to Sit:
Amari Cooper
Deshaun Watson is out and in the last game the Browns played without him, Dorian Thompson-Robinson started and it did not go well. The Browns are switching it up with veteran PJ Walker which should be better, but won’t be a great outcome either. Amari Cooper needs to be benched until Watson is back.
Terry McLaurin
McLaurin has been consistent his whole career even with inconsistent quarterback play, but Sam Howell might be the worst he’s had yet. The Commanders offense is one of the worst in the league with Howell under center and it doesn’t look like it’s going to get any better. We feel sorry for McLaurin as he can’t be relied upon in fantasy currently.
KJ Osborn
With Justin Jefferson out, it looks like all signs point to KJ Osborn as being the best replacement. However, we don’t think that is going to be the case. We think Osborn is going to take a seat as Addison and Hockenson get the targets that went to Jefferson. Osborn could be worth a flex in deeper leagues, but using him as a starting receiver is not the best idea.
