2023 Fantasy Football Week 6: Start Em’ or Sit Em’ Running Backs

Each week we’ll break down one player that should start in your fantasy lineup and one that would be better left on the bench per position. There are players like Christian McCaffrrey and Derrick Henry who are matchup proof and should be in your starting lineups every week barring a major circumstance.

Running Backs to Start:

Isiah Pacheco

It’s Denver and that’s about all we need to say. Kansas City should go up big early which will lead to plenty of clock to be run out and plenty of running plays. Pacheco is going to rack up yards. This game is also supposed to be rather windy and potentially see some rain which will limit the passing game. Pacheco is a must-start against Denver.

Raheem Mostert

With Achane placed on the IR, the Dolphins aren’t going to slow down and are just going to give more targets over to fellow speedster Raheem Mostert. Mostert is going to get a larger workload but will get some relief once Jeff Wilson Jr is back. Mostert is a must start until Wilson Jr is back in full role or Achane returns.

Kyren Williams

Last week, Kyren and the Rams offense didn’t rush the ball very much. This was attributed to the return of Cooper Kupp and the Rams trying to get him the ball as often as they could. The offense heavily relies on Kupp which should help get them more opportunities in the red zone. More opportunities here will benefit running back Kyren Williams as he should see more chances to get red zone touches. Going up against Arizona who’s given up plenty of points this year, the Rams offense and Kyren Williams should have a nice day.

Running Backs to Sit:

Zack Moss

Despite a whopping 165 yard performance in week 5, the Colts are going to be taking carries away from him with the contract extension for Jonathan Taylor. Taylor was eased into a limited role last week which he should see expanded this week. Moss is a sit if you’re using him as a starter but he’s worth a flex in deeper leagues.

Saquon Barkley

Barkley is trending towards starting after missing the past few weeks with injury and writing this under the assumption that he is. If he does start, his first game back would be against Buffalo on the road. This spells trouble for not only Barkley but the Giants offense as a whole. It’s going to be a rough showing for the Giants and Barkley would be better missing this game and not coming back to get clobbered by the Bills defense.

David Montgomery

Montgomery has been the top running back over Jahmyr Gibbs in Detroit. He’s been a top fantasy back this year when playing, but we didn’t get to see him play in their loss to Seattle. This is going to be a tough test for the Lions offense similar to that Seattle game and we don’t like Montgomery to put up the numbers he’s been putting up so far this year.
