We’re down to one winless team and both undefeated teams won in week 5. Will the Panthers overcome the Dolphins or can the 49ers & Eagles be stopped? We’ll be breaking down each of their 3 matchups and the rest of the games across the league. Through 5 weeks, our record is 53-25.
Denver Broncos at Kansas City Chiefs
The most exciting piece of this game is if Taylor Swift will be at the game or not. The Broncos are atrocious and the Chiefs are going to wipe the floor with them. This “game” is only worth watching if you’re a Swiftie.
Winner: Kansas City Chiefs
Baltimore Ravens at Tennessee Titans
This is the biggest tossup game of the week for us as both teams playing in London had disappointing performances last week. The Ravens receiving group with the abundance of dropped passes and the Titans defense let Zack Moss rush for 165 yards. This is going to be a low scoring game with two offenses who have struggled this year. The Ravens with running the ball and the dropped passes, the Titans with moving the ball downfield and scoring. This is going to be going under projected points and the Ravens will squeak out the win.
Winner: Baltimore Ravens
Washington Commanders at Atlanta Falcons
When you lose to the Chicago Bears at home by 20, you know you’re not a good team which is the case for the Washington Commanders. The Commanders made Justin Fields & the Bears look like the Dolphins offense. The Falcons have Bijan Robinson and it’s going to be the breakout Bijan Robinson game that we’ve all been waiting for. Bijan is in store for a monster performance as the Falcons go to 4-2 on the year.
Winner: Atlanta Falcons
Minnesota Vikings at Chicago Bears
Outside of the Detroit Lions, the NFC North has been an absolute joke of a division. The Packers were supposed to be making moves and haven’t done anything. The Bears should end up with two top 5 picks in the draft next year. While the Vikings who were supposed to be the top dogs are an embarrassing 1-4 and could very well lose this game on the road against Chicago. Both coaches in this game are on the hot seat and the loser’s seat might not last any longer. That coach is going to be Matt Eberflus as the Vikings offense without Jefferson should be enough to blow the Bears out. Their offense should still put up a fight against the Vikings, but the Bears defense is just so bad that Kirk Cousins should have a big 300 yard day even without top wideout Justin Jefferson.
Winner: Minnesota Vikings
Seattle Seahawks at Cincinnati Bengals
Since 2020, the Seattle Seahawks are 0-3 coming off a bye week. They are about to extend that streak to 0-4. On paper, the Seahawks look like they should win this with their 3-1 record and coming off the rest, but Joe Sheisty is back after that performance against the Cardinals. The Bengals offense is going to be too much for the Seahawks defense to handle.
Winner: Cincinnati Bengals
San Francisco 49ers at Cleveland Browns
The 49ers are the team to beat and they continue to impress us each week with how dominant they are. This past week they put up 42 points on a Dallas Cowboys defense that only gave up a previous 41 points through the first 4 games combined. They’ve only managed to let one opponent score more than 20 points this year and the Cleveland Browns on Sunday aren’t going to be the second team to do so. The 49ers should take care of business with another dominant win this weekend.
Winner: San Francisco 49ers
Carolina Panthers at Miami Dolphins
The Miami Dolphins at home are one of the best teams in the league. The Dolphins have the most yards through the first 5 weeks in a season in NFL history and they’re not slowing down. Literally, they are not slowing down as they have the 7 fastest recorded speeds of the season with week 5 featuring the fastest so far from Tyreek Hill. Against the only winless team remaining in the league in Carolina, this is going to be a bloodbath.
Winner: Miami Dolphins
Indianapolis Colts at Jacksonville Jaguars
Minshew Mania faces his former team after replacing the injured Anthony Richardson as the starting quarterback. Minshew is better for the Colts offense right now anyways and brings alive the passing game that Richardson was struggling with. The Jaguars are finally back in the US after 2 weeks in London and they get a shortened week due to the long travel which will make this matchup against Minshew a hard fought battle. The Jaguars have the momentum right now and we think they’ll carry just enough to beat their former quarterback.
Winner: Jacksonville Jaguars
New Orleans Saints at Houston Texans
With one of the most impressive wins of week 5 was the New Orleans Saints blowing out New England 34-0 in Foxborough. The Saints defense was the story of the game and is tougher than they look. We think it’s likely that Texans rookie CJ Stroud will throw his first career interception against the defense that just had a pick 6 last week. The Saints defense is going to be too much for Stroud and the Texans, but they should put up more of a fight than what New England did.
Winner: New Orleans Saints
New England Patriots at Las Vegas Raiders
The days of Mac Jones in New England appear to be dwindling as he put on another embarrassing performance. Belichick is fed up with him and he was benched late in the game in favor of Bailey Zappe. The Patriots offense just can’t do anything and there are a lot of problems. The Raiders aren’t a very good team either, but we can say in confidence that they can at least beat New England.
Winner: Las Vegas Raiders
Arizona Cardinals at Los Angeles Rams
This NFC West battle is an interesting one as both teams enter with a losing record but playing much better than what we’ve expected of them. The Cardinals are 1-4, but their lone win came against a good Dallas team. The Rams are 2-3 and all 3 of their losses came to teams that made the playoffs last year. The winner of this game will prove to doubters that they are better than their expectations and that winner is going to be the Rams who move to 3-3.
Winner: Los Angeles Rams
Philadelphia Eagles at New York Jets
The Philadelphia Eagles might be 5-0 but they aren’t necessarily playing like a 5-0 team. 3 0f their 5 wins have been one score games with two of those games against New England & Washington which both are towards the bottom of the league. The Eagles should get another one-score win against the Jets who also aren’t very good giving them the easiest path to 6 wins.
Winner: Philadelphia Eagles
Detroit Lions at Tampa Bay Buccaneers
The Detroit Lions & Tampa Bay Buccaneers both only have one loss and are some early surprises this season for how well they’ve been playing. The Lions offense continues to impress and Baker Mayfield was a nice addition to the Buccaneers offense to keep them afloat. The Lions offense didn’t fare as well in their week 2 loss against Seattle which is their toughest test of the year outside of Kansas City in week 1. The Buccaneers defense is a bit better than the Chiefs without Chris Jones and the Seahawks which coming off a week’s worth of rest should be just enough for Tampa Bay to slow down Detroit.
Winner: Tampa Bay Buccaneers
New York Giants at Buffalo Bills
Two teams hailing from New York square off in Buffalo. The Bills will be traveling back from London after a disappointing loss to the Jaguars and the Giants also coming off a loss against Miami in Miami. Both teams are struggling with serious injuries with the Giants not having an offensive line and the Bills taking most of their losses this past week in London. Even without players like Matt Milano and Tre’Davious White, the Bills have depth and could hold their own which they should do against the visiting Giants.
Winner: Buffalo Bills
Dallas Cowboys at Los Angeles Chargers
This is a revenge game for Los Angeles Chargers offensive coordinator Kellen Moore as the Dallas Cowboys parted ways with Moore last season. Moore is going to make the Cowboys regret their decision as he’s going to guide the Chargers offense to another high scoring battle. With Ekeler back and Moore out for vengeance, the Chargers pull off a huge Monday Night win.
