2023 NFL Quarter Season Awards

Through the first four weeks of the season, we’ll be looking at who is deserving of each of the major awards in the NFL. There’s still a lot of football left to play, but each of these guys on this list deserve it the most so far.

Offensive Player of the Year: Christian McCaffrey

There’s no doubt that Christian McCaffrey has been the offensive player of the year through the first four weeks. He has a combined 600 yards of offense and seven touchdowns. All last season, he had 13 touchdowns and is on pace to surpass that total by mid-season. He’s the most dominant offensive player in football right now.

Defensive Player of the Year: Micah Parsons

With Trevon Diggs out, Micah Parsons is going to need to make even more of an impact for the Dallas Cowboys defense as the leader on it. He’s been a top 10 defensive player since entering the year, but this year he’s been everywhere on the field causing sacks, fumbles, deflecting passes and just being solid in coverage. Parsons is the frontrunner for defensive player of the year right now and with Diggs out, Parsons is going to have more big plays to make throughout the season.

Offensive Rookie of the Year: CJ Stroud

Through four weeks, CJ Stroud is 4th among all quarterbacks for passing yards. This is an impressive feat and he’s not done yet. The Texans offense has come alive and Stroud is leading the way. Stroud is the frontrunner for this award, but Bijan and Achane, if they can get larger roles in their offenses, can give Stroud some competition as well as Nacua if he stays relevant with Kupp in the mix.

Defensive Rookie of the Year: Jalen Carter

There’s a couple candidates that are in the running for this award, but right now the early favorite is Jalen Carter. It’s between Carter and Devon Witherspoon thus far, but the edge goes to Carter for the pass rush abilities he’s had so far this season. He’s been a menace to opposing quarterbacks so far and the Eagles are very pleased that he slid down to them in the draft.

Coach of the Year: Dan Campbell

Coach Dan Campbell has his Detroit Lions rolling with a nice 3-1 record and sitting comfortably atop the NFC North. It is their division to lose right now and they have a favorable schedule ahead of them. The biggest win of their 3 wins so far was week 1 on the road against the defending Super Bowl Champions and for that, Campbell deserves to be honored for that.

Comeback Player of the Year: Damar Hamlin

Damar Hamlin suited up for his first game in week 4 of the NFL Season and was welcomed to a standing ovation. The fact that he suited up alone is what will earn him the comeback player of the year award.

MVP: Christian McCaffrey

It’s a possibility that we could see a rare non-quarterback MVP this season with how well Christian McCaffrey has been playing. CMC has been on an absolute tear this season and San Francisco truly is the perfect offense for him. It’s exciting to watch him succeed in an offense built for him compared to the years of being on a poor Panthers team.
