2023 Fantasy Football Week 5: Start Em’ or Sit Em’ Wide Receivers – What Should You Do With Cooper Kupp’s Return?

Each week we’ll break down one player that should start in your fantasy lineup and one that would be better left on the bench per position. There are players like Justin Jefferson and Tyreek Hill who are matchup proof and should be in your starting lineups every week barring a major circumstance.

Wide Receivers to Start:

Puka Nacua

Even with the return of Cooper Kupp, we are not backing down from Puka Nacua. Nacua is here to stay and the two should make one of the most feared receiver duos in the entire league. Nacua and Kupp should both be started with Nacua being the #1 until Kupp is fully healed.

Nico Collins

CJ Stroud has been balling this season and his favorite receiver thus far has been Nico Collins. Collins has been having a bit of a breakout season and is the #1 receiver in this offense. This offense should continue to roll through a weak Falcons defense in line for a monster day from Stroud and with Collins being the favorite target, he should be in store for a nice day.

Calvin Ridley

With Tre’Davious white out for the season, the Bills are going to be faced with much tougher matchups down the road. Their first full game without White is against Trevor Lawrence and the Jacksonville Jaguars. White would be on top wideout Calvin Ridley and this makes this game from Bills being a heavy favorite to a shootout in London. Ridley and Kirk should both see plenty of targets as Jacksonville attempts to stay in the game with Ridley being the one more worth starting in fantasy.

Wide Receivers to Sit:

Courtland Sutton

The Broncos and Jets are not going to be a very fun matchup to watch. Both teams aren’t great this year. The one player on the Jets that is however great is cornerback Sauce Gardner who is coming off a defensive rookie of the year title. Sauce Gardner is a shutdown corner and whoever he plays automatically does worse. This week he gets the lucky privilege of playing Denver and the #1 receiver for Denver being guarded by Sauce is Courtland Sutton. Sutton is in for a long afternoon.

Drake London

Drake London has fallen into the Kyle Pitts effect where he is very talented but the offense doesn’t know how to use him. That is the problem for the Falcons where the talent is there but playcalling and quarterback play is subpar. Drake London is a boom or bust candidate and that’s too risky for us to keep in our starting lineups. He is a flex at best.

Zay Flowers

Odell and Bateman might return this week which could impact the amount of targets that Zay Flowers would get. Even if they are back, Flowers is the #1 receiver. However, in a game against division rival Pittsburgh, those are always hard fought battles that we don’t like anyone really on either side fully, but Flowers is the one who is the biggest risk of busting.
