2023 Fantasy Football Week 4: Start Em’ or Sit Em’ Running Backs

Each week we’ll break down one player that should start in your fantasy lineup and one that would be better left on the bench per position. There are players like Christian McCaffrrey and Derrick Henry who are matchup proof and should be in your starting lineups every week barring a major circumstance.

Running Backs to Start:

Alvin Kamara

The Saints have been wanting Kamara back as Jamaal Williams went down with injury early on and Derek Carr is now hurt. The wait for him to be done with his 3 game suspension has felt like a long one. In his first game back, Kamara should be the star of the show and the offense will run through him. Kamara is in store for a game with a lot of touches.

Raheem Mostert

Through only 3 weeks, Mostert has 7 touchdowns on the year, with 4 of them coming from his monster game in week 3 against the Broncos. The Dolphins are the highest scoring team in the league with the most offensive yards per game as well. The Dolphins should continue to hold that feat in another shootout matchup against the Bills. Mostert and Achane should both see red zone opportunities against Buffalo and Mostert is a must start for us.

Zack Moss

With Jonathan Taylor on the PUP List, the Colts have turned to Deon Jackson who was later waived and Zack Moss for running back duties. Moss has racked up over 200 yards through 2 games and has been a fine replacement thus far. Moss is revitalizing his career if he can keep this up and making a case for a job to split duties when Taylor is back or with another team in the league. Moss might be the answer that Indianapolis needs to convince themselves to trade away Taylor. We like Moss to hit 300 rushing yards on the year this weekend.

Running Backs to Sit:

Breece Hall

As long as Zach Wilson is the starter for the Jets, the rest of the offense needs to be faded unfortunately. It’s sad when you have players with talent like Garrett Wilson and Breece Hall, but the Jets offense can’t do anything with Wilson playing at quarterback.

Brian Robinson Jr

With how much Washington is going to need to play from behind, there isn’t going to be many opportunities for them rushing the ball. Last week, Sam Howell threw a depressing 4 interceptions and against the Eagles defense, it’s possible he repeats that. Brian Robinson Jr and Antonio Gibson are going to be better left on the bench until Sam Howell figures out how to throw the ball.

Isiah Pacheco

Pacheco might be on one of the highest scoring offenses in the NFL, but the Chiefs don’t utilize him as an every down back. Instead they rely on the arm of Patrick Mahomes and when they only have a few yards to go to get the first down, they run screen type plays instead of handing it off to Pacheco to do the work. The Chiefs don’t see the running game as a source of moving the ball, but rather to give Mahomes a break or to trick the opponents up.
