Each week we’ll break down three players that should start in your fantasy lineup and three that would be better left on the bench per position. There are players like Lamar Jackson & Justin Herbert who are matchup proof and should be in your starting lineups every week barring a major circumstance.
Quarterbacks to Start:
Daniel Jones
The Giants didn’t do anything well from top to bottom in week 1. The Giants get a matchup against one of the worst teams in the league in Arizona to give them a much needed bounce back win and a moral victory. The Giants offense should take care of business against the weak Cardinals secondary and Daniel Jones should light up the scoreboard.
Trevor Lawrence
The shootout of week 1 was the Dolphins at Chargers and we expect the shootout of week 2 to be the Chiefs at Jaguars. As Patrick Mahomes is a constant starter, if you don’t have him, Trevor Lawrence is going to be the other quarterback in the shootout. We like Lawrence to have a high yardage game to a Chiefs team that made Jarod Goff look like a pro.
Jordan Love
Jordan Love was grooving in a week 1 blowout of the Chicago Bears. Love felt comfortable out there and reminded us a lot of Aaron Rodgers in the pocket. The Packers and Love should keep rolling against a subpar Atlanta team.
Quarterbacks to Sit:
Tua Tagovailoa
Tua was lights out with 466 yards and the best quarterback performance of week 1. Of course you are going to want to start him after that performance he just had. However, that was against a Chargers defense that doesn’t defend the pass well. They’re going up a New England defense that’s one of the better units in the NFL. We expect Tua to still play well, but if you’re expecting a top 3 performance from him, it’s not likely to happen.
Dak Prescott
The Cowboys might have beaten the New York Giants 40 to 0 in week 1, but Dak didn’t have anything to do with that. He had zero touchdowns and less than 150 yards. Dak should do better than he did last week as we expect the game against the Jets to be closer than the beatdown they gave the Giants. However, the Jets forced 4 turnovers on Josh Allen which makes playing Dak an unfavorable decision.
Kirk Cousins
A primetime matchup for Kirk Cousins is something to avoid. It’s his kryptonite and last year when in this position against the Eagles, he struggled immensely. The Eagles might have more injuries this year which should help Cousins, but primetime is his weakness.
