Each week we’ll break down one player that should start in your fantasy lineup and one that would be better left on the bench per position. There are players like Travis Kelce and Mark Andrews who are matchup proof and should be in your starting lineups every week barring a major circumstance.
Tight Ends to Start:
Tyler Higbee
With Cooper Kupp out, Tyler Higbee becomes the next best receiver for the Los Angeles Rams. Tyler Higbee is a must start for the first month of the year.
Darren Waller
An offseason move that went under the radar was Darren Waller to the Giants. Darren Waller brings years of experience and should be the missing piece that Daniel Jones needs to go to the next level. In a week 1 matchup against the Cowboys on primetime, we expect Waller to get some action and show why the Giants made the right call in bringing him in.
David Njoku
In an anticipated shootout against the Bengals, the Browns are going to need to switch up their game plan to be heavily reliant on the passing game. In doing so, Njoku is a top receiving option in the red zone and that should take away carries that former Browns back Kareem Hunt was used to getting when in this position.
Tight Ends to Sit:
Dawson Knox
To start the season, Dawson Knox should still be the starting tight end for the Buffalo Bills. However, with how early the Bills drafted Dalton Kincaid, we can only assume that he will take over as the starting tight end at some point in the season. We think that it can start as early as week 1 which is why we’re not trusting Dawson Knox as a starter.
Cole Kmet
The Bears have committed to passing more this year which is why they traded for DJ Moore. This does mean that DJ Moore will be the number one option and then followed by Mooney & Claypool. Kmet was the #1 option while Mooney was hurt but with more competition, Kmet’s not going to be as relevant as he was previously.
Isaiah Likely
With Mark Andrews unlikely to play, you might consider turning to his backup Isaiah Likely. Likely isn’t a bad option if you are desperate, but there are better, more reliable options out there that we’d rather turn to than having a boom or bust option like Likely.
