The MLB All Star Game is right around the corner and we’ll be looking at a few All-Star level players from the National League who are deserving of the end of the year awards.
NL MVP: Ronald Acuna Jr.
Acuna Jr has been absolutely electric this season and is proving he’s worth every penny of his $100 million deal. Acuna Jr is on pace to hit over 40 home runs and 70 stolen bases which would be an incredible feat. Only 2 players in NL history have made the 40-40 club and Acuna Jr is going to create a club of his own being the first to hit 40 home runs and anything over 50 stolen bases would put him in a class of his own. He’s doing that all while hitting over .330 which is MVP-caliber numbers.
NL CY Young: Zac Gallen
After finishing 5th in last year’s CY Young voting, Gallen is on a mission to prove the voters wrong as he’s now the clear frontrunner in the NL. Gallen leads the National League in wins and is on pace to have the best season of his career. Gallen should earn himself a big payday after this season for how dominant he’s been this year.
NL Rookie of the Year: Corbin Carroll
Sticking in Arizona, we turn to another young player who is turning into a star right in front of our eyes. Carroll made his debut towards the end of last season and played well enough to earn him a starting job for this year. That decision paid off for the Diamondbacks as Carroll is not just on pace to win rookie of the year unless Elly makes some noise, he’s earned himself an all-star appearance and is in the running for the NL MVP. Only 2 players in history have been able to win rookie of the year and MVP in the same season with those two being Fred Lynn and Ichiro Suzuki. Even if Carroll doesn’t accomplish that feat, he’s had an incredible year and we’re excited to see what the future has in store for him and the Diamondbacks who have a very promising future ahead of them.
